Mental health problems are common and treatable. Talking to a professional is private, and it works.

Everyone has difficult weeks. But when worry, low mood or poor sleep go on for more than two weeks and start to affect work, relationships or daily life, it may be anxiety or depression. These are medical conditions, not weakness, and they respond to treatment. Across Africa, far fewer than one in ten people who need care receive it, mostly because of stigma and distance. Telafiaicine removes both.

Signs of depression

Low mood most of the day; losing interest in things you used to enjoy; sleeping too little or too much; changes in appetite; tiredness; feeling worthless or guilty; trouble concentrating; thoughts of death or self-harm.

Signs of anxiety

Constant worry that is hard to control; restlessness; a racing heart, tight chest or shortness of breath without a physical cause; trouble sleeping; avoiding situations.

What helps

Talking therapy (such as cognitive behavioural therapy and problem-solving therapy) works well and can be delivered by video or phone. Medicines help for moderate to severe depression and anxiety and are not addictive when used as prescribed. Regular sleep, daily exercise, less alcohol, and staying connected to people you trust all help. Faith communities can be a real support alongside treatment, not instead of it.

If you are thinking of harming yourself

Tell someone now. Go to the nearest hospital, or call a local helpline if your country has one. You are not a burden, and help works.

How Telafia can help

You can speak to a doctor or mental health professional privately from anywhere, by audio if you prefer not to be on camera. Nothing is shared with employers or family.

Emergency numbers

767 works in Lagos State; 112 is the national number. Numbers change: please check locally. If a number does not connect, go straight to the nearest hospital.
