Not for emergencies

If someone is seriously unwell, call your local emergency number or go to the nearest hospital. Online consultations cannot replace emergency care, physical examination, or tests.

What Telafia is

We are a platform that connects you with doctors licensed by the Medical and Dental Council (MDC) Ghana. The medical advice you receive comes from the doctor, who is responsible for it under their professional rules. We provide the booking, payment, call and record-keeping tools, and we check each doctor's licence against the public register before they can take bookings.

Your account

  • You must be 18 or older to open an account. You may book for a child or dependant you are responsible for.
  • Sign-in codes are sent to your phone. Keep your phone secure and tell us if you lose access to the number.
  • Give true information. Wrong details can lead to wrong medical advice.

Consultations

  • Doctors may not prescribe controlled medicines (for example strong painkillers or sedatives) through the platform. This is a legal limit, not a choice.
  • The doctor may decide that your problem needs an in-person visit and end the consultation with that advice. That is a proper outcome, not a failure of service.
  • Be in a quiet, private place for your call. Do not record the doctor without asking.

Payment, cancellation and refunds

  • Fees are shown before you book and are charged in your local currency through Paystack, Flutterwave or mobile money.
  • You can cancel or move an appointment free of charge up to 2 hours before it starts. Later cancellations may not be refunded.
  • If the doctor cancels, you can rebook free or get a full refund.
  • If a call fails for technical reasons on our side, you get a free rebooking.

Your information

How we handle personal and health information is explained in the Privacy notice, which is part of these terms. It follows the Data Protection Act 2012 (Act 843).

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to obtain medicines for someone else without telling the doctor, to harass doctors or staff, to attack or probe the system, or for anything unlawful. We may suspend accounts that do.

Our responsibility

We work hard to keep the service available and secure, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted. We are responsible for the platform; the doctor is responsible for the clinical advice. Nothing in these terms removes rights that the consumer-protection or health laws of Ghana give you and that cannot be excluded.

Complaints and disputes

Tell us first at privacy@telemed.example; we respond within 10 working days. Complaints about a doctor's conduct can also be made to the Medical and Dental Council (MDC) Ghana. Complaints about your data can be made to the Data Protection Commission (DPC). These terms are governed by the laws of Ghana.

Changes

We may update these terms. We will show you the new version in the app before it applies. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept it.

Open points for legal review: Confirm registration as a data controller with the DPC; Confirm whether a fixed breach-notice deadline applies.
